Ida Lee Bright was born and raised in Gainesville, Texas, where she graduated from Gainesville High School. She went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in home economics from North Texas State University.
Ida started teaching home economics in Frisco ISD in 1974. She was known to be a teacher always, whether she was inside or outside of the school doors. She had a passion for what she taught because she knew that students would use those life skills for the rest of their lives.
One of the greater skills she passed on to her students was about choosing one’s attitude. She had a wonderful sense of humor, saw the best in every situation and helped everyone who encountered her feel at ease. She was forgiving and always found the good in everyone. Despite her own health issues, she considered the needs of others first and inspired many.
She retired from teaching full-time in 1984 to focus on her health, but this did not stop her from supporting Frisco ISD students and staff. She remained an active volunteer, spending countless hours on the phone helping with school initiatives and supporting activities such as the Frisco High School band.
